Why Join?

Deciding to become a member of CMARA offers you the following advantages:

  • You are supporting the finest 2-meter repeater in New England, with the largest footprint of any repeater in the area.
  • You can attend meetings that have excellent presentations, with fellow radio operators whose combined radio experience adds up to hundreds of years. You have the ability to help steer the topics of the meetings. We all are the same, as hams, always seeking more answers, almost always finding them through CMARA.
  • You are supporting on air radio events such as “Georges Old Timer’s Net“. No other club has such a following with either transceivers or monitors. We have a code of ethics requiring that we always remember who is listening – people of all ages who enjoy the shows, and who take note of how polite and respectful we are to one another.
  • Your membership includes: your club name badge, the W1BIM repeater kept in top shape, attendance to our regular meetings and access to any and all questions concerning Amateur Radio.
  • We encourage new members to provide fresh ideas, to volunteer for various roles within the club, to help with amateur radio Field Day and to show the general public the many contributions of Amateur Radio clubs. Among other things, radio clubs serve in weather reporting, weather emergencies and relaying messages between civil and military agencies.
  • In addition to technical operations and public service, we also have fun!
